Quest for the Crown

The Hockey Guild’s annual charity hockey festival

Crown Fit for A Queen

When we leaked long-awaited photos of our brand new Crown trophy a few days ago, we also took the time to explain WHAT the trophy represented and WHY we wanted to choose something traditional, yet medieval.

Now we’re here to tell you WHO created it! Introducing local artist Taeleen Woodard, the amazing mind behind SilenceHer Productions.

We could go on a long cheesy diatribe on art, but we like keeping things short. Basically we live in a society where there are many talented artists out there continually pushing the progression of style and new mediums. Everywhere you go, art is being displayed in unique ways. Sometimes it works, but most of the time you’re left scratching your head…and not in a good way.

Taeleen’s work is beyond different. It’s raw and real and vivid. It’s classic and simple and pure. It’s dark and nebulous but defined with brilliant colors that cannot be mistaken. There’s some scenes grounded in reality, yet others are much more surrealistic, like those dream-state moments rendered in an enigmatic way that stains your memory forever.

The other thing we love about Taeleen’s art is not necessarily the finished product – but moreso how she gets there. The tools she uses and the processes she employs (like creating her own canvases) might be seen as “ancient” and inefficient, but her tedious attention to detail and the patience she displays permeates the final product, saturating it with texture and shading.

We are so fortunate to have her incredible artistic integrity mesh with our hard work and dedication this year, which we feel will create an atmosphere and theme never before seen in a local hockey event. So feel free to check out more of her work and even some more exclusive photos of the Crown!

As you can see, Taeleen is hard at work creating some more rare and exclusive paintings for our silent auction, including her unique renditions of our original hand-drawn Medieval hockey characters (created by Sam Turner in 2007). She might even come out with a few other special items up for bidding in just a few weeks!
