Meltdown BBQ

Get your guts and bellies ready for what is sure to be the best hockey cookout of the summer.

The first-annual Meltdown BBQ & Bake Sale is a celebration of great food, great friends and great hockey. Show off your signature dish to everyone in the tournament and also have it displayed on a page in our Monument Meltdown E-Magazine, which includes recipes, photos from the tourney and more.

Right now The Hockey Guild is seeking out only the best turkeys for our signature dish, Texas Deep Fried Turkey. Yes, yours truly was born and raised outside of Big-D, and deep inside our blood there is some hearty southern home cooking.

The BBQ is $5 for all you can eat and drink and supports the Colorado Sports Center and Quest for the Crown. We are welcoming anyone from the tournament along with their friends and family. So if you’re playing in the Meltdown tourney this weekend, meet us out back Saturday morning as we begin preparing for a delicious lunch you’ll never forget! We will also have a fastest shot competition set up as well, with some cool prizes to give away!

Anyone tied to the tournament is welcome to be a part of our e-magazine by making their specialty meats or dishes for the BBQ. We will have at least one photographer on site, but we could still use some help serving food and preparing as well.

If you are interested in helping out, or you plan on bringing a dish, please e-mail us at info@thehockeyguild.com!

Crown Trophy Photos Leaked!!

The moment we chose Quest for the Crown as the name for our annual charity hockey festival, people and fans ad nauseum were asking, “Why is it called Quest for the CROWN and what exactly does that mean?!”

Well up until now, it was pretty tough to explain what the name meant without having them read our two-page charter first. And since our company has been around less than two years, not many people even knew that our logo displays a small gold crown comprised with three precise points.

Not only does that crown represent The Hockey Guild’s founding mission statement as well as our charity festival’s mission, but each of the three points represents a certain ideal as well. So in order to understand the basis behind our festival’s cause and the rare and never-before-seen crown trophy, we have decided to leak an earlier photo that shows a little glimpse behind the design process:

Now we could have very easily chosen “Quest for the Cure” or “Skate for the Cure” or another extremely obvious name for our event, but The Hockey Guild is founded on ideals that were brought to life during the Middle Ages throughout Europe. And what is more revered as a symbol of Medevial power, grace and glory than a golden crown?

OUR THREE PILLARS OF STRENGTH:

EDUCATION: We educate the local hockey community through Quest for the Crown’s wide variety of on and off-ice activities, including the adult tournament, celebrity charity game, OneGoal program and more. Our staff is passionate about bringing our patrons an exciting weekend of memorable hockey experiences, while also developing key aspects of personal strength, including teamwork, understanding and much more.

EXPERIENCE: We give local hockey players a plethora of unique and interactive opportunities to experience the glory and camaraderie of playing hockey through our tournaments and other hockey events. We recognize that the best way to be EDUCATED is through pure, hands-on experience, and that’s exactly what we offer our patrons.

Our websites inform you of opportunities to play in local adult leagues, sign up for one of our own quality hockey teams, or register to play in hockey tournaments all over the world. No matter what your level of experience, The Hockey Guild is dedicated to providing the most in-depth local hockey information.

EXPANSION: Quest for the Crown is a haven for Colorado’s hockey community to come together and actively participate in raising awareness about Hockey Fights Cancer, all while expanding and evolving the local scene. Whether it’s by making new friends, harvesting old ones or promoting your team by playing in the tournament, our charity event is the perfect place to do all of these things. More amateur hockey players join the ranks every season, so all of our events nce for you to be a part of the ever-growing community.

Poker Frenzy Returns!

We are proud to announce that the second-annual Friday Night Poker Frenzy will once again be your chance to cut loose, bluff like crazy and make some new friends while raising money and awareness for Hockey Fights Cancer!

Thanks to WebKit.com and Bazi, we are proud to bring back our second-annual Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament, which will be held upstairs at Big Bear Ice Arena at the Hotstove. The buy-in is $25 and there will be great prizes awarded, along with free shots of Bazi and more.

More details will be coming shortly! Your $25 donation to Hockey Fights Cancer includes the buy-in along with a chance to win one prize per table. There is no need to pre-register, so just visit The Hockey Guild’s info booth and sign up starting at 5pm on Friday. The tournament’s start time will be announced shortly!

Donation Station Launched

Created for the sole purpose of raising awareness for the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer foundation, our charity festival thrives on the hard work and unselfish support from every player and sponsor involved, making the Quest the ultimate Colorado hockey experience.

This year we expanded our reach by bringing in out-of-state teams and by launching our online Donation Station, which allows anyone to support our Quest at any time. This is a great way for players to get their friends, families and loved ones involved in raising funds and awareness for Hockey Fights Cancer.

So please join our quest to fight cancer by making a small donation to the cause today! Anyone who contributes a total of $10 or more will receive a FREE Hockey Fights Cancer limited edition lapel pin along with your donation card/receipt. For those that donate over $500, you will also receive a FREE Colorado Avalanche CCM replica jersey.

We will continue to offer prizes and rewards for those that donate to the Quest, so stay tuned as always to this website and thanks for your support! This is also a place for you to bid on celebrity players for our Skate with the Stars charity game, which also makes you eligible for prizes if your player scores a goal in the game!

One Quest, OneGoal

The Hockey Guild is proud to announce an all-new festival event to be held on Saturday during Quest for the Crown 2.

For the hour of ice just before our Skate with the Stars celebrity charity game, we will be hosting an exclusive OneGoal event in support of the Front Range Panthers youth hockey association.

So now any child 4-to-8 years old can come down to our charity hockey festival and play ice hockey! Thanks to the help of the Mile High Moose junior-A hockey team and other local hockey coaches and volunteers, your child can use a set of hockey equipment and skate on the ice with our volunteer coaches.

OneGoal has already seen a tremendous response here in Colorado thanks to the support of the University of Denver, CAHA and the Junior Pioneers. In one weekend late last season, the DU Recreation Center hosted over 200 kids for a weekend of grassroots hockey, which proved that OneGoal is the future of introducing kids to the game of hockey.

Thanks to a strong partnership between USA Hockey, Hockey Canada and equipment manufacturers, full sets of child-size hockey gear has been donated to youth hockey associations across the country in an effort to spark interest in the game at the 8-Under levels. Because the program is usually reserved for youth hockey associations, we are proud to benefit the Front Range Panthers with this unique OneGoal event.

OneGoal is a non-profit organization comprised of a coalition of USA Hockey, Hockey Canada, International Hockey Industry Association, National Hockey League (NHL), the NHL Players Association, rinks, equipment manufacturers, retailers, and many others across North America who are involved with hockey. The “one goal” of this group is to build greater awareness and understanding of hockey so parents can make informed decisions about involving their families in the sport. For many of us who didn’t grow up with the game, OneGoal makes it easier and less intimidating to join in on everything that hockey has to offer.
